On Friday, April 8th, Conway High School’s Interact Club attended Coastal Carolina University’s Relay For Life. The Interact Club walked in memory of Martwain Bellamy, a rising senior of the class of 2016. Bellamy was diagnosed with leukemia and lost his battle in July of 2015. The Interact Club had supporters donate in Martwain’s name. The relay lasted from 7 pm Friday night until 7 am Saturday morning. To raise money, the Interact Club sold BBQ sandwiches for $3.00, chips for $1.00, water for $1.00, brownies for $1.00, cake pops for $1.00, and cookies for $1.00. In total, with the the food and luminary sales, they raised $1,159.00 for the American Cancer Society on the night of the relay. Money raised after that night totalled at about $250.00, and will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Martwain’s name. The relay was a huge success for the Interact Club, who placed 16th out the 63 teams.
